Mission Committee's First Meeting

The Committee held its first meeting at the Federation Office on March 29, 2004.

During the first part of the day-long meeting the members spent time in prayer and reflection, focusing on the mission directives of our respective congregations and the more recently developed Mission Statement of our Canadian Federation.

With Sister Margaret Kane’s facilitation some time was given to re-viewing and absorbing the implications of this Mission Statement for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada. Particular emphasis was placed on the goal and objectives developed last October by the Federation Board for implementing the Mission Statement.

Following a brief overview of the Federation restructuring process that led to the Committee’s formation, the group spent the bulk of the day brainstorming ways in which they could best support leadership and the congregations in making the goal and objectives work.

From a wide spectrum of long and shorter range initiatives the group settled on one immediate project that could be of assistance to the Federation in their current planning process for the October meeting. You will be hearing from your representative on the Committee in the very near future as they begin to involve us all in empowering one another to live passionately our mission of active and inclusive love.
