Sister Margaret Kane (Hamilton), with the able assistance
of Sister Margo Ritchie (London), led the Board through
a process of entering more deeply into the Federation
Mission Statement. The results were startling
and very exciting for all there.
It began with a powerful ritual designed by Sister
Marjorie McGuire of Pembroke. It continued through the
process of deciding on an immediate goal and objectives
for implementing the Mission Statement. Suddenly, it
became apparent that we were at a new place together.
Suddenly, the expression "Sisters of St. Joseph
of Canada" had a life of its own. This was not
an issue of jurisdiction or canonical structures, but
a profound sense of oneness. "Where one Sister
of St. Joseph is in mission, there we all are."
Not surprisingly, this realization had a profound effect
on our planning: Leadership Teams are committed to sharing
their experience with the congregations, and this Office
will be shaping its efforts in the light of a wider
and deeper unity among us.
Sister Sheila Anne Spooner (Sault Ste Marie) reported
on the recent Pilgrimage to France, and it looks as
though another trip is in the works for 2005. Keep this
in mind along with the ongoing hopes for the International
Centre in France.
