Celebrating World Day for Consecrated Life 2003
On
the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2, 2003,
Catholics throughout the world were invited to celebrate World
Day for Consecrated Life in their local parishes. Pope John
instituted World Day for Consecrated Life in 1997 and called
us to be mindful of the men and women who choose to live their
baptismal commitment through profession of the vows of poverty,
chastity and obedience.
This annual celebration is an opportunity to give thanks
for those who live the consecrated life for the good of the
whole Church, to learn more about the consecrated life, and
to pray for future vocations to this life.
Throughout the dioceses where the Sisters of St. Joseph
minister, various celebrations took place to acknowledge the
presence of our Sisters: prayers at Sunday Liturgy, parish
suppers and socials after Mass, opportunities for Sisters
to make presentations on religious life, and life stories
of Sisters in church bulletins and in displays.
If you would like more information about religious life,
contact a vocation
director.
