Margaret joined the Federation Office in the summer of last
year and is very much enjoying the experience as our Executive
Assistant! For a number of years she had worked in central
administration at the University of Toronto, and before that
held positions at the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry and Princess
Margaret Hospital.
Born and educated in Northern Ireland, Margaret came to
Canada some thirty years ago for a six-month period, and shell
still here!! Toronto has come to mean a lot to her on many
levels. She has a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
She is able to pursue her life-long love of choral music,
having sung in several choirs in Ireland and in Toronto, and
she presently sings with the Toronto Chamber Choir. Her love
of singing led to a love of Italy, its music, language and
culture, so she decided to study again and is completing a
Specialist Degree in Italian Studies as a part-time student.
Margarets path to the Sisters of St. Joseph was through
her involvement as cooking coordinator with the Out-of-the-Cold
Program at St. Patricks Church in Toronto, where dinner
is served every Sunday evening to a large number of the Citys
homeless. Sister Anne Anderson from our Hamilton Congregation,
who heads up the Program, was aware that because of a reorganization
change at the University of Toronto, Margarets position
was coming to an end, and the introduction was made!
Margaret is delighted to be here with the Sisters of St.
Joseph of Canada and is happy to support the work required
to furthering the Mission of the Federation.
