The Federation was shocked and deeply saddened by the death
of Sister Marjory, Assistant General of our Pembroke congregation
and recent member of the Federation Executive Committee, on
November 3, 2004. Marjorys illness was diagnosed, her
condition rapidly worsened and she died, all within the space
of a month. Her wake and funeral, November 5 and 6, were attended
by members of all Federation congregations, the Grey Sisters
of Pembroke, and the Sisters of Providence as well as family
members, friends, local bishop and clergy. Her Sisters
celebration of Marjorys life and death was a true Valley
experience of faith, hospitality, music, story-telling and
profound communal bonds. From it emerged a portrait of a woman
whose goodness was extraordinary, whose watchwords were love
and inclusivity, whose remarkable personal gifts were zealously
offered in service of the neighbour through education, teacher
formation, congregational leadership, PRH ministry and spiritual
companionship. May you enjoy, Marjory, the eternal embrace
of God whom you loved with passion and practical service.
