Joyous Seasons Greetings
Sister Veronica OReilly
Both the weather and the world situation could, if allowed
to, depress our spirits in this dark time of the year. Everyday,
however, hope comes into our lives in the stories of genuinely
good people performing acts, great and small, of courage and
kindness. Somehow these acts are the glue that binds us together
as children of the same God. They are the light in the darkness
of inequity, cruelty, and deprivation that threatens to overwhelm
our hope. While we do not cease from outrage at these ills
of human making we celebrate at this season, nonetheless,
the good that does exist and the efforts made to establish
a right order of things. And in that we can be truly joyful,
even merry. Let us encourage one another in acts of loving
relationship and reconciliation at the personal level and
beyond. In this way Christs life growing in us with
each act will increase and shed even greater light on us and
our world. Merry Christmas!
