Federation of Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada
National Event - May 28-30, 2006
On Tuesday, May 30, we brought to a close, with great joy
and gratitude, our National Event celebrating forty years
of the Canadian Federation of Sisters of St. Joseph. The event
was themed Hallowed Roots: Sacred Vistas and this motif
was carried by song, ritual, poetry and the brilliant presentations
of Dr. Carol Zinn csj.
Under the general rubric of Racing toward a Rendezvous
with God, Dr. Zinn picked up on the moment of
intimacy and urgency attendant upon completion of an actual
and biblical forty years. This time period is understood in
scriptural terms as a formation time and its completion as
a moment of launching those formed into a new
reality. It was these sacred vistas, the new spiritual and
cultural realities in which religious congregations and associates
find themselves, to which the conference called the more than
two hundred enthusiastic participants from Ontario, Alberta,
Haiti, and Honduras. In particular the group expressed renewed
passion for its central inspiration of reconciling, active
and inclusive love and explored the ever expanding boundaries
to which we are continually invited by this call. Photographs and the Presidential Address (PDF file) are included.
