Hamilton Leadership Program

May 23-24, 2008

After some time in the planning, a program to help in preparation for Congregational Leadership took place on May 23-24, 2008. This was attended by 32 sisters, with 8 presenters and hosted generously by the Hamilton congregation. The opening session included presentations on Exploration of Leadership Experience (Sister Trina Bottos), Leadership, for What World? (Sr Dorothy Ryan) and the Spirituality of Leadership (Sr Bonnie Anne MacLellan). Sessions the following day included presentations on Communication Skills/Conflict Management Sr Mary McGuire), LeadershipStyles/Skills (Sr Margaret Kane), and Budgeting/Financial Stewardship (Sr Shirley Anderson).

All reports indicate the great success of the event, with feedback including comments such as energizing, inspiring, surpassing expectations. In addition, the program keeps the Federation agenda to the forefront. It has been agreed that it would be valuable to offer a repeat of this program in April of 2009, to be followed at a later date by a second phase which would include the practicalities as well as the spirituality of leadership.
