Meet Margaret Harris (Mrs. Bernard)
M. O. M. Mother of Many

Margaret Harris
Margaret Harris

My welcome to this world was loving provided by Francis and Catherine (Russell) Pendergast. I thrived in a loving secure family as the first daughter after Russell, Paul, Frank and later Evelyn.

We lived in the parish of St. John Kingston Road (K R) in the Archdiocese of Toronto. Each of us attended St. John's School under the guidance of the Sisters of St. Joseph. My sister and I attended St. Joseph College School.

In 1952 Bernard Harris and I were married at St. John's K. R.

We took possession of our own home in 1955 in St. Benedict's Parish, in the north west corner of Toronto. Here we raised nine children. Michael, our tenth child was placed in the care of Our Blessed Mother and St Joseph in 1965.

In 1984 we were asked by Sister Anne Marie Carey CSJ to attend a meeting of the Matt Talbot Group of the Community St. Joseph Co-Members (Associates) We made our first commitment in 1985.

In 1989 we retired to Orillia and were welcomed by Sr. Ann Matheson CSJ to the Lalemant Group. Presently, while serving as their Co-ordinator, I am being moulded by the loving patience of the group members. We share our faith life with other CSJ Associates of Toronto.  Along with the Sisters of St. Joseph, we are growing in grace and the knowledge of the Kingdom of God.
