Meet Carol Lombard,
CSJ Toronto Associate

Carol Lombard
Carol Lombard

I was born and raised in a small village in Nova Scotia and raised as a Catholic. My paternal grandmother was one of eight girls who entered the convent of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her seven sisters stayed on but at one point my dear grandmother came back to her small community and raised a family of ten children of her own, with one daughter entering the same convent and her seven aunts.

During my high school years, I was blessed to be taught by religious of two different congregations. Having had this in my life, I wondered if a life as a religious was for me. Well life went on and approximately five years ago I attended a weekend retreat where I met with a Sister of St. Joseph, and as they say, the rest is history.

My time as an Associate has been prayerful and rewarding. It has filled a void in my life, whereby I am with a group of men and women who pray and share. What I have found is that my prayer life has grown and deepened and my awareness of ‘caring for the dear neighbour’ has heightened.

It is a wonderful experience for me, and one I truly cherish. I would recommend this to anyone who is seeking a greater closeness to God in a community-based environment.
