Meet Sarah Lamothe - Peterborough Associate
The Anna Vey Associate Community in Peterborough has been
spiritually nourished by Sarah’s presence for nineteen
years. Sarah was born in Hearst, in Northern Ontario. Later,
she lived in Smooth Rock Falls where she met and married her
husband, Louie. They have five children, and many grandchildren
and great grandchildren. In 2003 Louie and Sarah celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary.
For many years, Sarah was an employee of the Peterborough
Separate School Board. In 1987 she joined the Anna Vey community,
becoming one of its founding members. She has been a vibrant
part of our community, truly living the CSJ charism of active
and inclusive love. Participating in CSJ Associates retreats
and workshops has always been a priority for her. We all have
fond memories of Sarah being the alarm clock for us as she
knocked on our bedroom doors at retreats to awaken us and
join her in pre-dawn walking and praying the rosary. And at
each Christmas party we look forward to feasting on Sarah's
delicious tourtieres.
Sarah’s ministries have included being a lector and
eucharistic minister at Saint Peter’s Cathedral and a
volunteer pastoral care worker at St. Joseph’s hospital.
Being a pastoral care volunteer has been a ministry dear to
her heart.
Although ill health has recently afflicted Sarah, she has
continued to faithfully attend our monthly meetings. In February,
Sarah unfortunately sustained a fall that now prevents her
from having active participation with her local Associate
community.
Our Anna Vey Community will miss you Sarah, as will the entire
Peterborough Associate Community. But we take courage knowing
you are still with us as a Praying Member, praying for us
and with us as we travel together on life's journey home to
our Father.
