Meet Sister Constance Lacroix,
a Sister of St. Joseph of the Diocese of Pembroke

Sister Constance Lacroix
Sister Constance Lacroix

Sister Constance is a very gifted woman and one who uses her gifts generously in the service of others. No task is too difficult. Her motto seems to be “The difficult we will do right away, the Impossible may take a little longer.”

Born in LaPasse Ontario, Sister grew up with one brother and three sisters. She was baptized in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Sister Constance attended the local school of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The example of the members of this parish with a history of community building was a place where family, church and school were closely knit together. Many vocations to the priesthood and religious life came from this small village on the shores of the Ottawa River.

Sister Constance Lacroix graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Ottawa University, Master in Family Sciences and a Master in Religious Education from St. Paul’s University Ottawa. She has a Diploma in Theology.

Trained in Education as a teacher, pastoral ministry and missionary work, Sister Constance Lacroix served in the Catholic schools of Pembroke, Killaloe, Des Joachins, Chapeau, Quyon and Ottawa. Her many gifts of language, organizing and teaching skills were put to great use in a variety of ministries over the years.
Her zeal for the missions was lived out in Chincha Alta and Comas Peru. When she returned to Canada, her ministry as parish coordinator and consultant in religious education were carried out with the same love and care for the people. She was elected to the Leadership team of her community in April 2005. Sister Constance brings to the team many years of experience in the field of education, pastoral ministry, and as a missionary in Peru.

Sister Constance was drawn to community life by the example of her aunt Sister Mary Victory and Sisters Austin and Sr. St. Charles. It was their love of neighbor, kindness and joyful spirit that stirred in her the desire to follow in their footsteps.
