Since 2021, the FOSJ has joined faith groups around the world to urge governments to develop and implement a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty -- which calls for the phasing out of fossil fuels and supports a just transition powered by clean energy and a sustainable future for all.

Some perspectives look at poverty through the lens of income (e.g. If a household has an income less than half of the median income, they are living in poverty). Another perspective focuses on basic necessities (e.g. A family needs sufficient income to be able to afford a market basket of essential goods and services).
